KanzleiBarandt

Every engagement begins with a sound assessment – even when it argues against the outcome you hoped for.

About the firm

Rechtsanwälte Barandt is an office partnership of independent lawyers in Frankfurt am Main. We advise and represent companies, shareholders, managing directors and private individuals, including in cross-border matters, in commercial, civil and corporate law, as well as in debt recovery and litigation up to the appeal stage – in Frankfurt am Main, Königstein im Taunus and the Rhine-Main region.

Law and economics in one office

Kanzlei Barandt consists of two lawyers trained in both law and economics. That combination is the core of our work: we read contracts, balance sheets, financing documents and company valuations without translation. So in a set of contracts we spot not only the clause that is legally invalid but also the one that is economically disadvantageous – and in practice it is that one which is more often the real problem.

Advice in German, Russian and English

Advice and representation with an economic eye

Alexandra Barandt represents her clients in commercial, civil and corporate law. She accompanies business decisions from drafting the contract through out-of-court disputes to enforcement in court. The focus is not the abstract legal position but the client's economic goal: which position can be held, what risk it carries, and what the dispute costs relative to the result that can be achieved.

Experience in civil litigation – first and second instance

Contentious civil litigation is a core part of her practice. Alexandra Barandt conducts proceedings before the local and regional courts and appeals before the regional courts and the Higher Regional Courts. She also knows civil proceedings from the court's side: she gained practical experience in banking and capital markets law in the civil chamber for banking law of the Frankfurt am Main Regional Court and in the banking senate of the Frankfurt am Main Higher Regional Court.

Education and career

Alexandra Barandt studied law in Germany at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. After the first state examination she worked as a lawyer in international law firms and German banks, and then studied economics with a focus on finance at the same university (Bachelor of Science). After the second state examination she was admitted to the bar; she is a member of the Frankfurt am Main Bar Association.

She gained practical experience in banking and capital markets law in the civil chamber for banking law of the Frankfurt am Main Regional Court and in the banking senate of the Frankfurt am Main Higher Regional Court, as well as in the legal department of an international pharmaceutical company. She has completed the specialist-lawyer courses in banking and capital markets law (WM Seminare, 2018) and in commercial and corporate law (Hagen Law School, 2020) and continues her training under the German specialist-lawyer regulations.

What clients can expect from us

  1. Direct contact with the lawyer handling your matter. Every matter is run by the lawyer who took it on – no intermediate layer, no changing contacts.
  2. Advice, not a service. We get to know the business model before we assess the law. Only then does it become clear which risk is real and which exists only on paper.
  3. Alternatives openly on the table. At every fork we set out the available alternatives with cost, duration and prospects of success – including the alternative of not suing.
  4. Economical use of resources. Effort is measured against economic value. Where a letter is enough, no lawsuit is filed. Litigation is not always the shorter road to success.
